植株紧凑、宽广的丘状，耐热。叶片精致、柳叶状，春季新叶紫红色，夏季蓝绿色，秋季变成亮黄色或紫红色。春末至仲夏枝条顶端开深玫粉色花，花序穹顶状，与蓝绿色叶片相映衬。

Spiraea × bumalda 'Anthony Waterer' is a compact, broadly mounded, decicuous shrub with delicate, willowy, reddish-purple leaves in spring, maturing to bule-green as summer progresses. The foliage turns vibrant shades of yellow and redish-purple in the fall. In late spring to midsummer, domed sprays of deep rosy-pink flowers grace the tips of the branches and contrast well with the unusual bluish foliage. Heat-tolerant.
