其他丁香花期过后才开始开花。花蕾紫色，开放后浅紫色，单瓣、芳香。叶片比蓝丁香和四季丁香大，秋季深紫红色。

This hardy lilac has purple buds that poen to single, fragrant, pale lilac flowers when other lilacs have finished. It has leaves larger than S. meyeri and S. microphylla and beautiful burgundy-red fall color.
